Kerry are through to the Munster Senior Football Championship final.
They won at Clare in the last four by 2-19 to 1-14 in front of a crowd of 5,526.
Kerry’s Paudie Clifford had the first 3 points of the day. After Clare cut the gap to 1, a David Clifford point had the Kingdom in front by double scores after 12 minutes; 4 points to 2.
Again, Clare halved the deficit. David Clifford hit a two pointer to make it 6 to 3 after 13 minutes. Micheal Burns made it a 4 point game. Then came a Clare goal, reducing the gap to the minimum at 0-7 to 1-3 with 18 minutes on the clock. It was 0-8 to 1-4 after 25 minutes. David Clifford doubled that advantage, then added a 2 pointer. When Keith Evans put over after half an hour Kerry were ahead by 12 points to 1-4. Diarmuid O’Connor increased the lead to 6 but a Clare 2 pointer made it a 4 point game heading towards the final minute of the period. At half-time it was 0-13 to 1-6.
David Clifford had Kerry’s first point of the second period, that after a Clare point. Micheal Burns then put over before a 43rd minute Paudie Clifford goal made it 1-15 to 1-7. Clare responded with a 2 pointer. The gap was 6 at 1-16 to 1-10 at the 3/4 stage. With ten minutes to go the Kerry advantage was 1-18 to 1-12. A speculative effort from distance by David Clifford found its way to the Clare net but the same player received a black card a few minutes later. The Kingdom won by 8.
