Scottish football fans and their four-legged friends are disappointed after a sportswear giant has left their dogs without a kit.
Adidas has unveiled a collection of kits for animals, which have been specifically modified so fans can watch alongside their pets.
Jerseys are available in the home kits of Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Japan, who have all qualified for the World Cup this summer.
The Scotland men’s national team are returning to the tournament after qualifying for the first time since 1998.
It will see them face Haiti, five-time winners Brazil and Morocco – who have qualified for the last three events – and the aim is to get out of the tournament’s group stage, which they have never before succeeded in doing.
However, the retailer decided against making Scottish animal kits due to a suspected lack of demand.
Paul Goodwin, the co-founder of the Scottish Football Supporters Association, told The Telegraph: “We are really disappointed that there is no Scotland kit for dogs. We have a rich history of dogs following many of our teams and feel that Adidas should maybe rethink things before the World Cup kicks off.”
An Adidas spokesperson said: “For the FIFA World Cup 2026 we have designed our most expansive product range ever – from our TRIONDA official match ball, through to Federation jerseys for high performance on the field of play, and options for fans all over the world to support their team.
“The choices around which styles and silhouettes were created came down to a broad set of factors including cultural synergies, demand signals, consumer feedback, federation partner feedback and design practicalities – including with our pet collection.”
The pet collection will be available from 1 May across North America, Latin America, Japan, China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia in selected stores and online.
It has been announced that a bank holiday will be held in Scotland on 15 June to mark the nation’s return to the World Cup, with pubs to remain open until 2am.
The Scotland men’s national team will have their first fixture against Haiti on Sunday 14 June, with kick-off at 2am UK time.
However, many fans have missed out on tickets to watch their team in person, given the “simply unaffordable” ticket prices.
First minister John Swinney has called on football chiefs to act on prices which have seen this summer’s tournament, which is taking place across Canada, the US and Mexico, become the “most expensive in history”.
