The newly named Corn Pháidí Uí Shé trophy will be presented for the first time this weekend following its official launch in Ventry last night.
Family, friends and former teammates gathered at the late Páidí Ó Sé’s pub to mark the naming of the new Munster Senior Football Championship trophy in honour of the Kerry legend.
Radio Kerry’s Jason O’Connor spoke with Pádraig Óg Ó Sé, who said it was a huge honour and surprise for the family.
Former Kerry teammate Dara Ó Cinnéide also attended the launch and described the naming of the cup as a fitting tribute to one of Kerry football’s greatest figures.
Munster Council Chairman Tim Murphy says it was an important decision to recognise Páidí’s contribution to Gaelic Games.
The Corn Pháidí Uí Shé trophy will be lifted for the first time this Sunday after Kerry’s Munster Senior Football Final clash with Cork at Fitzgerald Stadium.
Kerry are chasing a sixth Munster title in-a-row, while Cork are seeking their first provincial crown since 2012.
Radio Kerry Sport, in association with McElligotts Kia Listowel Road Tralee, will bring full live commentary from Fitzgerald Stadium with throw-in at 2pm.
