England opener Ben Duckett blasted an unbeaten 203 as defending champions Nottinghamshire played out an absorbing County Championship draw with likely title rivals Surrey at Trent Bridge.

Resuming on 99 for one and with a lead of 65, Duckett made sure the hosts were in no danger of capitulating as he completed the sixth double century of his career.

Nottinghamshire had reached 414 for four, a lead of 380, when both sides agreed to take a draw shortly before five o’clock, a result that leaves the hosts top of the table with five games played.

Sean Dickson and Ryan Hadley combined for an improbable hundred partnership as Glamorgan shrugged off their day-three jitters to beat Somerset by two wickets in Cardiff.

Dickson, a former Somerset batter, held firm for a gruelling 76 and was boosted by an unbeaten half-century from Hadley, the first of his career, as Glamorgan achieved their final-day target of 143 runs with five wickets in hand.

Warwickshire earned the second biggest win in their County Championship history as they demolished Yorkshire by 377 runs at Edgbaston.

The visitors started the final day on 98 for five chasing a huge 549 for victory, but crumbled to 171 all out as Ethan Bamber (four for 50) and Olly Hannon-Dalby (three for 33) did most of the damage.

Matthew Revis offered a crumb of resistance with a hard-earned 41 but the hosts cantered to their biggest win since a 378-run success against Northamptonshire 99 years ago.

Sussex overcame two rain delays to reach their second-innings target of 131 and complete a seven-wicket win over Leicestershire at Hove.

Having dismissed the visitors for 232, only the elements looked likely to prevent Sussex from picking up another win, and knocks of 48 by Danial Ibrahim and 39 from Tom Clark, eventually saw them home.

In Division Two, Tawanda Muyeye struck a fine century as Kent fought their way to an exciting two-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Bristol.

After the hosts swiftly wrapped up their second innings to set Kent a target of 261, the visitors got off to a rocky start, briefly languishing on 24 for two with Zak Crawley out cheaply before Muyeye followed up his first innings score of 90 with 108 off 129 balls.

Derbyshire claimed their first win of the season as they thumped Northamptonshire by an innings and 113 runs at the County Ground.

The hosts battled well in their response to the visitors’ mighty first innings total of 604 for seven declared, but ultimately Zak Chappell (four for 53) and Shoaib Bashir (three for 70) did the damage to finally earn their side victory.
