Xabi Alonso says it fills him with “immense pride” to become manager of Chelsea – after signing a four year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen boss will begin work in July and has set out his aim to build a team “capable of competing consistently”.
It’s understood Alonso will be central to decisions made about transfers at the club.
