World number one Aryna Sabalenka continues her bid for a first French Open title against 25th seed Diana Shnaider in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros.

In the men’s draw, three Italians have reached the last eight of a grand slam for the first time, with Flavio Cobolli, Matteo Berrettini and Matteo Arnaldi all aiming to reach the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Surrey and Middlesex clash at the Oval in the Vitality Blast, while the best-of-seven NBA Finals get under way in the United States.

Sabalenka targets maiden French Open crown

Aryna Sabalenka has reached her fourth successive Roland Garros quarter-final and the top seeded Belarussian is heavy favourite against Russian world number 23 Diana Shnaider.

Poland’s Maja Chwalinska hopes to extend her fairytale run against Russian 22nd seed Anna Kalinskaya in Wednesday’s opening singles game at 1100, while in the men’s draw three Italians are in quarter-final action.

Flavio Cobolli, the 10th seed, faces Canada’s fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and Matteo Berrettini takes on compatriot Matteo Arnaldi, with live coverage throughout the day on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports 4.

What else is happening on Wednesday?

Ben Stokes will hold his captain’s press conference at Lord’s (1100) before the first of their three-match Test Series against New Zealand on Thursday at the same venue.

In cricket’s live action on Wednesday, Surrey can move level on points with South Group top two Hampshire and Kent if they secure their third Blast win of the season against Middlesex (Sky Sports Cricket 1825, Sky Sports Main Event 1830).

Rory McIlroy and world number one Scottie Scheffler will also be speaking to the media on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Edinburgh.

In America, game one of the NBA Finals gets under way at 0130BST (Thurs) on Amazon Prime as the San Antonio Spurs – led by 22-year-old, 7ft 4in French superstar Victor Wembanyama – host a New York Knicks side looking to win their first championship since 1973.

And with the World Cup due to start next Thursday, the Netherlands face fellow finalists Algeria (Amazon Prime PPV) in a warm-up friendly ay 1945BST.
