The Azteca Stadium in Mexico City plays host to the opening game of the 2026 World Cup tonight.
Mexico take on South Africa, mirroring the first fixture of the 2010 edition of the tournament.
An opening ceremony will take place ahead of this evening’s match – with Shakira and Burna Boy performing this year’s World Cup anthem.
It’s an 8 o’clock kick-off at the Azteca Stadium.

At his pre-tournament press conference, FIFA President Gianni Infantino asked reporters to “chill” over a Somali referee being denied entry to the United States.
Omar Artan, who was due to officiate at the World Cup, was turned away in Miami, with the White House citing suspected links to a terror organisation.
