The McLaren driver crossed the line ahead of Max Verstappen, with championship leader Kimi Antonelli finishing third.
Lewis Hamilton came fourth in his Ferrari but was demoted to fifth due to a penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
George Russell was two places further back.
Meanwhile, Malaysia is to host a Formula One grand prix in October to replace the Bahrain race that was called off earlier this season.
The war in the Middle East caused the postponement in April.
Kuala Lumpur will hold the race between the 2nd and 4th of October, a week before neighbouring Singapore hosts.
There remains uncertainty about the final two scheduled races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi because of the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.
