Abbeydorney are the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Hurling champions again.

They overcame St.Brendan’s 3-16 to 1-12 in the decider at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

A Fionan Egan point from a free for Brendan’s opened the scoring. Oisin Maunsell had Abbeydorney level within a minute but Egan’s second point had his side back in front. In the 8th minute Egan doubled that advantage for Brendan’s. Michael O’Leary halved the deficit at the midway point of the half. Abbeydorney’s Michael Slattery had the opening goal of the encounter in the 16th minute to make it 1-2 to 3 points
A second Abbeydorney goal quickly followed, with Oisin Maunsell’s strike giving his side a 2-2 to 3 points advantage
Brendan’s hit back with back to back points before Abbeydorney were awarded a penalty
Michael O’Leary’s penalty was superbly saved by Darren Delaney but O’Leary did point the resultant 65. Further scores from Mikey Clifford and Niall O’Mahony made it 2-5 to 0-5. At the break Abbeydorney led 2-7 to 0-6.

Brendan’s spurned a great goal chance at the start of the second period to eat into the deficit. After the sides shared the opening 4 points of the half Abbeydorney hit 3 successive points, through Michael O’Leary, Oisin Maunsell and Michael Slattery. That gave them a 2-12 to 8 points advantage after 42 minutes. Oisin Maunsell then nabbed his second goal of the final Seamus O’Halloran grabbed a consolation goal for Brendan’s before the end. Abbeydorney won by 10.
