Rodri looks set to leave Manchester City amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. The World Cup winning captain is into the final year of his contract and favours a move to Barca – though an initial offer of £38m has been rejected.
Arsenal were dealt a blow in one of their summer transfer pursuits as Vinicius Jr has signed a contract extension with Real Madrid. The Gunners have moved on from targeting the winger and have reignited their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez while PSG’s Bradley Barcola is also on their list.
In more positive news, Bruno Guimaraes has completed a medical at Arsenal ahead of his £75m move from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old midfielder is now expected to be announced as a new Gooner on Friday ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season fixtures this weekend. The deal represents a key piece of business of Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal’s title defence.
Liverpool, meanwhile, also want to sign Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain and have also lined up his teammate Ibrahim Mbaye in what could be a double swoop for Andoni Iraola’s side. The European champions may be willing to let them go especially following Maghnes Akliouche signing from Monaco.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have added to their ranks by bringing in a teenage midfielder and they are exploring their options at left-back with Lewis Hall reportedly now set on a move to Old Trafford, but Newcastle are determined to stop the exodus and insist he is not for sale.

According to The i Paper, Tottenham have been monitoring a move for Darwin Nunez but could be rivalled by Trabzonspor, Mohamed Salah’s new club.
West Ham sign Joel Veltman
West Ham have signed former Brighton defender Joel Veltman on a free transfer.
He’s signed a one year deal with the option of a further year.
“I’m delighted to have signed, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Veltman. “The project here really excites me.
“I spoke to Nuno [Espírito Santo], as well as my family and my agent, and everything added up. We know that West Ham need to be in the Premier League, and for sure that is our goal for the season.
“I think I bring my experience, my winning mentality and togetherness. I bring leadership – I’ve been the captain at Ajax, and I enjoy talking to my teammates and using my experience to help the squad.
“I’m just so excited to give everything, to meet my new teammates and to see all the supporters too.”
Juventus pursuing Zirkzee
Juventus are said to be interested in Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and hope to bring the forward in on a loan deal.
Zirkzee is down the pecking order under Michael Carrick and could be keen on the move though the right deal will need to be struck for all parties.
Juve have already signed Randal Kolo Muani and Kerim Alajbegovic so there is no urgency on their part to get Zirkee’s move done.
Moore heading to Germany
Tottenham’s Mikey Moore is heading to Germany to complete a loan move to FC Koln as he heads out on loan once more for the 2026/27 season.
Moore had several clubs in England and Europe interested in signing him, but the club and player feel this is an ideal step after a successful season at Rangers.
There is no option or obligation to make the deal permanent.
Rangers sign winger Daisuke Yokota
Rangers have signed Japan international Daisuke Yokota.
The winger arrives from Hannover for an initial fee of £2.75m.
Derek McInnes said: “He has gained valuable experience across a number of different leagues in Europe.
“He is quick, direct and has the ability to make things happen in the final third.”
Chelsea distance themselves from Diogo Costa reports
Chelsea have once again been busy in the transfer market but they are not pursuing a new goalkeeper.
The Blues were linked with Porto’s Diogo Costa in recent days but the club are happy with their options.
Robert Sanchez will continue as first choice while Mike Penders will remain with the squad.

DONE DEAL! Crystal Palace sign Takehiro Tomiyasu
Crystal Palace have completed the signing of former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu following a successful trial.
The Japan international, who spent four seasons at the Emirates before leaving for Ajax in 2025, becomes manager Pierre Sage’s second signing since taking over in July.
He played 84 times in all competitions for the Gunners but missed virtually all of his final season in north London with a knee injury before his contract was terminated last summer.
Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “Takehiro has experience at the highest level of European and international football.
“We are delighted to welcome a player of his calibre to the club and believe he will prove to be a great addition to the squad.”
Jarrod Bowen holds release clause if West Ham do not earn promotion
Jarrod Bowen has a release clause in his West Ham contract should the club not earn promotion back to the Premier League, reports Talk Sport’s Alex Crook.
Should the Hammers remain in the Championship for the 2027/28 season, suitors could purchase Bowen for as little as £15m, the report claims.
Sunderland knocked back after bid for Sporting winger
Sunderland have seen an offer knocked back from Sporting Lisbon for Geny Catamo, reports A Bola.
The Mozambican winger impressed last term in Lisbon, scoring six goals in 28 Primeira Liga matches.
The Black Cats could return with an offer for the wide player, who has also been linked with Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton in recent weeks.
Why has Mohamed Salah signed for Trabzonspor?
Mohamed Salah is just two seasons removed from an outstanding Premier League campaign where he scored 29 goals and made 18 assists in 2024-25, so to see the 34-year-old end up in the Super Lig is somewhat surprising.
But the forward scored just seven league goals in his final season at Liverpool, with his minutes diminished amid a falling out with former Reds boss Arne Slot, so it also makes sense that Salah’s range of suitors was somewhat limited.
