Gold for Walshe

The evening’s action on day 6 of the European Aquatics Championships has begun.

Ellen Walshe has finished in first place in the women’s 200 metres individual medley final.

Walshe adds another gold medal after she was crowned European 400 metres individual medley champion earlier this week.

The Templeogue native will also line-up in the women’s 200 metres butterfly semi-finals just before 7 o’clock.

Mona McSharry can move one step closer towards a third medal at the championships shortly when she takes part in the women’s 50 metres breaststroke semi-finals.

McSharry won a silver medal in the 100 metres breaststroke final on Wednesday, before she added a bronze medal in the 200 metres breaststroke yesterday.

Daniel Wiffen will be hoping to become the third Irish swimmer to claim a medal in Paris when he goes in the men’s 15-hundred metres freestyle at twenty-past-6.
