Kate O’Connor has secured a gold medal in the women’s heptathlon at the European Athletics Championships in Brimingham.
The 25-year-old claimed third place in the 800 metres earlier as she followed Rhasidat Adeleke and Mark English in finishing on the podium this week.
O’Connor adds the European medal to her gold in the Commonwealth Games and her silver in the World Championships in recent times.
Andrew Coscoran brought his fifteen hundred metres campaign to an end with a third place finish.
A late surge sealed a bronze medal for Coscoran as he became the fourth member of Team Ireland to win a medal.
Kerry’s Sarah Leahy was part of the Irish team which came home 7th in the Women’s 4 x 100 metres final.
Elsewhere, Jack O’Leary finished in tenth in the ten-thousand metres final.
Later this evening, Sarah Healy and Sophie O’Sullivan take to the track for the women’s fifteen-hundred-metres final.

The Wicklow native did not finish the women’s marathon final.
