Jack Draper will miss the rest of the 2026 season as he continues to recover from an arm injury.
The 24-year-old’s career has been derailed due to bruising on the bone, which has wrecked much of his last 12 months.
He recently pulled out of the US Open, meaning he did not play in a grand slam this year, and is now aiming to return to court at the start of next year.
Draper posted on social media: “Don’t usually love lots of words on here but I wanted to update you that I am aiming to return to the tour at the start of 2027.
“Last summer all the dedication and work I had put into this sport was coming together.
“It was all going my way and the path seemed so clear. However a complicated injury made things incredibly challenging and since that moment I’ve been desperately trying to get back and feel as I once did on the court.
“Managing so much change, adversity and pain has helped me to grow massively in many areas of my life but has also made me feel a level of fatigue.
“I am taking this time to reset and heal so when I return I am 100 per cent ready to go.
“Tennis is my purpose and passion and so when I step back on court I want to make sure that there’s nothing holding me back from where I want to go.”
It has been a disastrous last 12 months for the 24-year-old, who was ranked in the world’s top five last summer but is now down at 143.
His arm problems forced him out after Wimbledon last year for seven months, aside from a US Open appearance where he pulled out ahead of the second round.
Draper then appeared to be back on track, only for a knee problem to surface in the spring and force him out of the French Open.
He made another return at Eastbourne ahead of Wimbledon, but more pain in his arm prompted him to make the difficult decision to miss his home grand slam and things have only gone downhill since.
