Cardiff defender Krystian Bielik has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following an altercation with a Portsmouth supporter, though police will take no further action following an investigation.
The FA said it was alleged that Bielik had acted in an improper manner around the 71st minute of the Championship match at Fratton Park on 5 September. Bielik has until Friday to provide a response.
The game was briefly halted when Bielik went to retrieve a ball from one of the stands. Video footage showed Bielik becoming involved in an altercation with a young male supporter, who caught the ball and then appeared to be pushed in the throat by the player after he had thrown it back towards the pitch.
Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy said Bielik was slapped in the face, while his opposite number John Mousinho apologised to the visiting team.
Hampshire Police had launched their own investigation into the incident after being notified by confirmed on Wednesday that the matter had been resolved.
A police statement read: “Following an incident involving a Portsmouth FC supporter and a Cardiff player at Fratton Park on 5 September 2026, we have now concluded our investigation.
“After speaking with the complainant and reviewing all available evidence, the matter has been resolved by way of an out-of-court disposal, agreed by all parties involved. As part of this resolution, an apology has been provided by the player.
“The matter is now considered closed, and no further action will be taken in relation to this incident.”
