The Selecao had to salvage a 1-1 draw to spare themselves embarrassment in Townsville on Friday, with Rayan equalising deep into stoppage time to cancel out Nestory Irankunda’s 68th-minute opener for the Socceroos.
Brazilian media reacted to the performance by branding it a “disgrace” and Ancelotti will be desperate for a better performance in Brisbane as pressure on the Italian begins to mount.
Brazil are still reeling off their disappointing World Cup campaign which saw them dumped out in the last-16 by Norway, courtesy of two late Erling Haaland goals.

Brazilian media blast Brazil’s last outing: ‘A disgrace’
Safe to say Brazilian media did not react well to the Selecao scraping a draw against the Socceroos.
Veteran Brazilian commentator Galvao Bueno led the criticism, branding the result a ‘disgrace’.
He wrote on Instagram: “Well friends, disappointing, frustrating, the first game of the team in this new cycle!! A static team, predictable and without the shine of the stars!!
“Ancelotti promised a renewed team and the reconstruction of a midfield!! Where is the midfield?? Just a painful 1-1 draw with the limited Australian team!!
“Worse: the equalising goal, by Rayan, came in the last play of the match!! Ancelotti will have to work a lot to fix this team!! Will he be able to fix it??
“The football shown today is far from being the dream of the fans and the past of our team!! The performance of the Brazilian team was a disgrace!!”
What happened in the first match?
Australia were denied a famous victory against Brazil after Rayan scored a last-minute header to earn Carlo Ancelotti’s side an underwhelming 1-1 draw with the Socceroos in Queensland.
The Socceroos came into the match on the back of an impressive World Cup which saw them reach the knockout rounds before losing a penalty shootout to Egypt. The confidence of that tournament spread into this match as Tony Popovic’s side took the game to the Selecao in the first half.
Australia’s Nestory Irankunda, Conner Metcalfe and Aziz Behich were all good value in taking on their Brazilian opposition, but the hosts lacked quality in the final third. They almost came to rue their missed chances as Estevao scored the first goal only for it to be ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up.
As the second half progressed, Douglas Luiz was introduced off the bench and fouled Paul Okon-Engstler resulting in a free kick which Irankunda drilled into the top corner past Hugo Souza.
Yet despite a resolute defensive performance following the opening goal, Australia were undone in the last minute of the match as Raphinha’s corner found Rayan who headed home the equaliser to end the thrilling contest on level terms.

Carlo Ancelotti shakes things up for Brazil’s second outing Down Under.
The biggest change sees goalscorer Rayan get a start ahead of Estevao, rewarded for his stoppage-time heroics to spare the country embarrassment.
Endrick is also swapped out in attack, with Raphinha leading the line while Gabriel Bontempo starts in behind.
Otavio Costa starts in between the sticks for Hugo Souza, while Vanderson comes in at right-back for Matheuzinho. In midfield, Mauro Junior starts ahead of Danilo Santos.
