Horse racing correspondent Jonathan Doidge brings us his horse racing tips across Friday cards at Newbury, Epsom and Yarmouth using the best odds from betting sites.
QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (16.25, Yarmouth)
It may have been the undulations of Ripon, or the fact that she couldn’t get across to the helpful stands’ rail there but either way ZOUSTAR DREAMS was unable to perform to her best at the North Yorkshire venue last week.
She’d shown significantly more ability at the flatter Nottingham circuit last month and, given that this is a similar type of track, I’m siding with her to return to top form at Yarmouth, with conditions and trip again to her liking.
She raced freely when scoring at Colwick Park but still comfortably defied a mark of 66 and I’m not sure it was the 5lb rise that scuppered her Ripon chances.
The cheekpieces that’s she already won in are retained and she’s generally enjoying a good summer. The celebrations might not be over just yet.
Friday racing tip 1: Zoustar Dreams (Yarmouth, 16.25) – 1pt win @ SP
Betfred “Play Fred’s £5 Million” Handicap (16.38, Epsom)
I wouldn’t suggest this Class 6 contest is a race to get heavily involved with but while he’s in good form it could pay to side with OFFIAH’S BOY.
Joe Tickle’s five-year-old won four times last summer, including backing up a success during that spell, so we know he is capable of doing what many can’t at this level.
He has trip and ground to suit him and, if anything, should be better suited by this return to 1m2f than he was when making all over 1m1f at Lingfield (good to firm) last week.
He carries a penalty for that success but his final win of last season came from a mark higher than what he effectively runs from in this. A repeat of that latest performance would make him tough to beat in a race that lacks depth.
Friday racing tip 2: Offiah’s Boy (Epsom, 16.38) – 1pt win @ SP
BetVictor EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (16.45, Newbury)
On the evidence of her debut success, EVENFALL has the scope to be the best of this bunch, unless there happens to be a more significant improver among them on the day.
Five of the half dozen-strong field have shown the ability to win a race, which should at least strengthen the market on betting apps. However, none has shown the precocity of the George Boughey-trained selection, with Spirit Of Lyra, Sorrengail and Coat Of Red all needing a run to get them to fever pitch.
The selection is partnered by the red hot Billy Loughnane, who was on board when she beat a small field at Yarmouth on debut, having gone off at odds-on. The runner-up that day has since come out and won, boosting the form and hinting that Evenfall may have a fair bit more to come this time.
She’s showed good speed when she was asked to go about her business and she is taken to make it 2-2.
Friday racing tip 3: Evenfall (Newbury, 16.45) – 2pts win @ SP
Visit Malta St Hugh’s Stakes (Listed Race) (17.23, Newbury)
FAST TRACK looks well named if her recent Goodwood conditions race effort is anything to go by and after the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot proved beyond her, she is clearly improving significantly.
That Ascot effort was just her third start and a 50/1 SP on horse racing betting sites suggests expectations were low after two previous placed runs. However, she then went to Beverley (5f, good to firm) with a first-time tongue-tie in place and absolutely hacked up at long odds-on.
Proving that was no fluke, she turned up at Goodwood in good nick and was a solid 100/30 chance when finding just Wild Blossom too good for her. If the number crunchers are worth anything then she came on by around a stone that day and she’s therefore earned another crack at some black type.
She looks to have plenty of pace and this lovely, flat, galloping track can play to her strengths. She can return to pattern company with a win.
Friday racing tip 4: Fast Track (Newbury, 17.23) – 1pt win @ SP
