The Captains of Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Captain Tomás Kelliher and Captain Annette McNeice, are proud to announce the upcoming Open Captains’ Charity Weekend, taking place on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May. This year’s event will raise essential funds for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, a charity providing vital in home nursing care and respite support for children with severe learning disability often associated with complex medical needs.
The event is generously sponsored by Truffle Honey, whose continued partnership helps support the club’s charitable efforts.
The Open Captains’ Charity Weekend will be played as a Team of Four event, with an entry fee of €40 per person / €160 per team, with online entry available through the club’s booking system at www.killarneygolfclub.ie and donation option provided via the designated fundraising page on www.idonate.ie (see address below).
A charity raffle will run across the weekend, with the chance to win Green Fees at top golf courses as well as a wide selection of fantastic prizes kindly donated by supporters.
In a joint Captains’ statement Captain Tomás and Captain Annette said “We are honoured to host this year’s Open Captains’ Charity Weekend in support of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation. The work they do for families in Kerry and across Ireland is extraordinary, and we are proud to play our part in helping them continue that mission. We look forward to welcoming members, visitors, and supporters for what promises to be a fantastic weekend of golf, community spirit, and generosity.”
Siobhan Reen from the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation said “We are deeply grateful to the Captains’ and the entire Killarney Golf & Fishing Club community for choosing Jack and Jill as the beneficiary of this year’s Open Captains’ Charity Weekend. Events like this make a real and immediate difference to the families we support in Kerry and nationwide. Every euro raised helps us provide vital home nursing care, giving children the chance to be cared for at home, where they belong.”
The nationwide charity funds and provides in-home nursing care, and respite support to families caring for children, up to the age of seven, with severe learning disability often associated with complex medical needs. Jack and Jill currently support families across County Kerry, ensuring that children can receive this vital care in their own homes, surrounded by family and community. This local support is a lifeline for parents who rely on regular, professional respite to help them care for their child.
Beyond Kerry, Jack and Jill operates nationwide, supporting over 490 of families across Ireland with up to 100 hours of home nursing and respite care per month, tailored to each child’s needs. The charity relies heavily on community driven fundraising events — such as the Open Captains’ Charity Weekend — to continue delivering this essential, family centred care.
