Leeds United are considering whether to take legal action against Leicester City after seeing Burnley being awarded more than £35m in compensation from Everton.
An independent disciplinary commission last week ruled Everton had to pay Burnley £26m, plus a further £9.1m in interest, for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations in 2021-22.
Then Everton avoided relegation while Burnley went down while Leeds are conscious that Leicester have been found guilty of breaching PSR for a three-year period ending in 2023-24.
In 2023-24, Leicester won the Championship while Leeds came third, missing out on automatic promotion by one place and then losing in the play-offs.
Leicester were eventually docked six points last season for failing PSR and, after consecutive relegations, are now in League One, while Leeds were promoted to the Premier League in 2025.
While Everton launched an immediate appeal against the decision last week, it raised the possibility it would lead to more clubs suing others.
