Victory for Kerry against Donegal

Kerry have made it back to back wins in the Christy Ring Cup.

They won against Donegal in Tralee by 5-18 to 2-22.

Donegal registered the first 3 points of the contest before Evan Murphy got Kerry on the scoreboard. A 6th minute Josh Cronolly McGee goal meant Donegal were in front by 1-4 to 0-1. 3 Ronan Walsh points halved the deficit by the 12th minute. After Walsh pointed again, Donegal lost Danny Cullen to a red card. Walsh put over the subsequent free to make it Kerry 0-6 Donegal 1-4. Tom Doyle leveled for the Kingdom before another Walsh point had Kerry in front for the first time. Jordan Brick doubled that advantage, 0-9 to 1-4 after 23 minutes. It was al square at 0-10 to 1-7 after half an hour. Donegal edged ahead, then quickly doubled their advantage. The visitors were on stay, going 5 clear at 1-12 to 0-10. In added on time Kerry got a much needed goal, courtesy of Kevin Goulding, to close out the half’s scoring.

Half time sub Padraig Boyle netted with his first touch for the Kingdom. That and a Tom Doyle point had Kerry in front at 2-11 to 1-12. It was Kerry 2-13 Donegal 1-14 after 42 minutes.
Within 4 minutes Donegal were level at 2-14 to 1-17. After Donegal edged a point ahead Padraig Boyle notched his second goal of the encounter. Jordan Brick out 3 between the sides at 3-15 to 1-18 after 48 minutes. Kevin Goulding had his second goal of the day in the 54th minute, making it 4-15 to 1-19. Fifteen minutes from time Donegal netted from a penalty to leave 2 between the sides at 4-15 to 2-19. Donegal then cut that gap in half, then equalised with 9 minutes remaining. Padraig Boyle pointed Kerry back in front. Ivan Conway doubled the advantage 5 minutes from time. The Kingdom were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Michael Slattery. Padraig Boyle stepped and drove it into the net to claim his second half hat trick. That had Kerry ahead by 5-17 to 2-21, putting the issue beyond doubt.
