LeBron James will leave Los Angeles Lakers with Golden State Warriors reportedly his next destination.

James moved to the west coast in 2018 following a successful second stint with Cleveland Cavaliers and helped the Lakers claim the NBA championship, his fourth title, in the Covid-affected 2020 season.

The 41-year-old is set to play a record-extending 24th season in the NBA but the Lakers confirmed on Tuesday it will not be with them, with the Warriors reportedly the favourites to land his signature.

“LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history,” the club said on social media.

“We will always be thankful for his eight years with the Lakers – including the title he led us to in 2020 under the toughest imaginable circumstances and the countless records he broke in purple and gold.

“We wish him all the best in the future, both on the court and off. He will always be a cherished part of the Lakers family.”
