Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson has reportedly agreed to a landmark contract extension, valued at a maximum of $75 million over three years, bringing an end to his “hold in” status during training camp.
The deal is set to make Robinson the highest-paid running back in NFL history, with ESPN reporting Tuesday that the agreement will see him earn $51 million guaranteed along with $37 million due as a signing bonus.
Robinson, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, showcased his talent with 2,298 total yards and 11 touchdowns in 2025, earning him first-team All-Pro honors. He boasts 34 total touchdowns across 51 career games, 50 of which were starts.
While he participated in minicamp and mandatory offseason workouts under new head coach Kevin Stefanski, Robinson had been attending daily training camp sessions but remained on the sidelines as the Falcons worked to finalize his contract.
He was already signed through the 2026 season, and the team had picked up his fifth-year option for 2027 prior to Tuesday’s agreement.
This extension marks the latest in a series of long-term deals for core Falcons players since Matt Ryan assumed the role of team president of football in January.
Wide receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts, and guard Matthew Bergeron have all committed for at least three additional seasons this offseason.
In other roster moves, the Falcons saw Tyler Allgeier depart for the Arizona Cardinals in free agency but have bolstered their running back depth by adding Brian Robinson, formerly of the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers, alongside third-down specialist Tyler Goodson, to complement Bijan Robinson this season.
The Falcons have preseason games against the Denver Broncos, the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins later this month as they prepare for the 2026 season.
They will then begin their season by traveling to the Pittsburgh Steelers on 13 September, before staging their first home game against the Carolina Panthers the following weekend.
The Falcons’ final game in September will see them take on the Green Bay Packers away from home, with that fixture scheduled for 24 September.
