Lowry 7 off lead; Maguire and Walsh chasing to make cut

Shane Lowry is seven shots off the lead after his opening round at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina.

The Clara golfer signed for a one-under-par round of 70 yesterday, with Ludvig Aberg (pr: oh-berg) leading the way on eight-under.

Leona Maguire and Lauren Walsh have work to do to make the cut at the LA Championship.

The Irish duo are both two-over following their opening rounds overnight, four shots shy of the projected cut line.

Stephanie Meadow, meanwhile, is on one-under after Day One.

Japan’s Chizzy Iwai holds a two-shot lead on nine-under.
