Last Thursday’s staging of the National Secondary Schools Finals in Lakeside in Templemore Co Tipperary saw St Brendans College Killarney’s four-year reign as National Champions come to an end as they ended up with a fourth place finish in the event.

The team of Fionn McMonagle (-1), Fionn O’Callaghan (-2) and Lucas Uchytil (+11) combined for a +8 total overall as the side they defeated on countback to win the Munster event the previous week in Colaiste and Chraobhin Fermoy would claim the National title as the Sem were denied by a single stroke by St Kierans College Kilkenny for the bronze medal. The second St Brendans team that made the National Final based on the Munster result would finish 12th overall on the day last Thursday.

This weekend sees the second major event of the year to take place in Kerry as Tralee hosts the National Scotch Foursomes this Saturday and Sunday. These events were due to be hosted by Castleisland of course but the event of the summer’s weather on the course forced them to unfortunately withdraw as hosts back in August with Tralee stepping in as new hosts to ensure the event remained in Kerry.

25 different pairs from the county (16 in the Non-Mixed Section and 9 in the Non-Mixed Section) will take part this weekend as we wish them all the best of luck over both days. Best Wishes to Tralee also in their hosting of the events this weekend.
